She devoured souls that could not reconcile the scales of truth with their hearts and those souls were then consigned to eternal death. She was often referred to as “The Devourer of the Dead”. Ammit in ancient Egypt was regarded as a prominent, powerful goddess. She symbolized everything that the Egyptians were afraid of. The piece is a reflection of her and what her role was amongst the gods. The piece brings the elements of darkness, terror, judgment, and most important, the element of power.
