Resilience (2022)

This composition is about my freshman year of college. My director, Dr. Mark Walker, asked me to write a piece reflecting on everything I learned during that time. Initially, I thought he meant focusing on theoretical knowledge and music classes. However, as I worked on it, the piece evolved into more of a story rather than just an exercise in composition. The music portrays three distinct stages that defined my year: "Glorious Moments, Great Memories, and Unfortunate Failures.” This piece had the honor of being selected as a finalist for the “2022 AMEA Young Composers Competition”.

The world premiere of this piece was on November 14th, 2022 by the Troy University Symphonic Band. It was conducted by the President of RWS Music, Mrs. Susan Smith.
