Fanfare of the Old Syndicate (Score Only)
A syndicate can be defined as a group of individuals or organizations joined together to promote a common interest. In this context, the concert band, or wind ensemble, is the syndicate I had in mind when writing this work. My goal was to highlight the power and skill of the concert band through this piece, while also paying tribute to a special group of musicians. During my sophomore year of high school, I started playing with a local community band called the North Okaloosa Community Band. I was invited by some friends and a former band director to join as they needed percussionists. When I attended my first rehearsal, I was quite nervous. I was surrounded by talented musicians who were dedicated to their craft. Despite only performing with them for a short time, I felt welcomed and enjoyed my time playing with them.
This work is dedicated to that group, the North Okaloosa Community Band.
The World Premiere of this piece was on April 29th, 2024 by the North Okaloosa Community Band, Ms. Kim Whaley conducting.
